Pursuant to K.S.A. 58-3043, the Commission may restrict or deny an applicant's license.
Applications pursuant to K.S.A. 48-3406. Substitute (Sub.) for HB 2066 was enacted by the 2021 Legislature amending K.S.A. 48-3406. Applicants who may qualify include military service members, military spouses, applicants who reside in Kansas, or applicants who intend to reside in Kansas. Applicants must hold a current valid license in another jurisdiction for at least two years immediately preceding application and not have past or pending disqualifying criminal records or disciplinary actions. During the 2024 Legislative Session, House Bill 2745 was adopted which exempts spouses of active military servicemembers who reside or plan to reside in Kansas due to the assigned military station of the individual’s spouse from all occupational licensing, registration, and certification fees. Effective July 1, 2024, eligible individuals as defined by the bill will be exempt from all original application and license fees, Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) background check fees, and renewal application fees. The applicant or licensee is responsible for indicating eligibility for the exemption each time an application form is completed and could be subject to discipline if eligibility is misrepresented pursuant to K.S.A. 58-3062(f)(1).
